We had this with Firebird 1.0.3.791 ??? (something like that). We have
installed 1.5.1 on a couple of workstations and have noticed that
connecting and disconnecting is quite fast even on Windows XP.

We have a couple of clients running Windows 2003 and I will suggest they
move up to 1.5.1.
