yes, fbclient.dl is in system32.
I am starting to suspect that there is an issue with MDAC on this
machine. I run some tests last night and I was able to link tables from
a fb db to an access db by using Odbc (System DSN). I am still unable to
open a recordset either based on a DSN less odbc connection or DSN based
connection.
Since this works with oledb, I think the only place the issue might be
located is somewhere around the OleDB driver for ODBC (MSDASQL).
I also tried uninstalling MDAC 2.8 and it failed so I am kinda stuck.
Anybody know how to uninstall MDAC 2.8 manually or with a utility? I
tried dasetup.exe /U but it complained that another version is installed
and can't be rolled back....
I read somewhere that there is a special place in DLL Hell for MDAC
users :-)
