Most png's that have alpha channels(transparencies) have to be 256 color
before Internet Explorer can display them properly.
IE can only have one transparent colour(on or off)
Konqueror can blend 256 shades between transparent and colour

ps. In Gimp, remember to select 'Offset' when saving PNG's with
transparencies...
