Hi
There are a lot of threads about this question and it would be nice to read
the archives first, and only ask unanswered questions.
Anyway, firebird works very nice on Windows 2003, BUT you should NOT use
.gdb but .fdb file extension. .gdb is reserved on Windows XP and 2003+.
Further, Firebird 1.5 is definitely superior to 1.03 and at least as stable.
The last point is: With firebird 1.03 I had some delays during connect,
which could take up to 50 seconds, but it worked all the time. Data transfer
and statement execution was lightning fast, only connects had some
misterious delays.
Finally, lots of people recommend to disable shadow copies and system
restore features. For me they are very usefull and I had no problems ever. I
also don't understand, why there should be a problem, as long as you don't
use .gdb extensions. (For more on this read the current thread "Windows 2003
and connection speed".)
Regards,
Steffen
