That would never happen! We are so lucky that we never have to share
our customers server/workstation with other apps then Antivirus,
Microsoft Office, X-Ray imaging systems and 2-3 other apps that is
well know to us.

We do not respect other installations :( If the user cannot login,
they are given the choice to restore (copy back)
isc4.gdb+ibserver+what ever.

We are trying to protect our apps from "idiot" users, not giving them
freedom of choice!

Our customers have signed a contract and pays alot of money so that it
will run everyday without failing.

If we had to sell our app to the public (with computers we do not
control), we would need to improve our app even more. One step would
be to use FB1.5 instances, but I don't think it is enought.

If you need to control fbserver even more, then take a look at the
proposal by Nando Dessena in the Firebird-Devel list ("Embedded
Superserver").
