I've encountered this with Classic. In summary, the Guardian doesn't work
with Classic. I still don't know whether this is a bug or it is "as
designed" and the person who wrote the installer inadvertently allowed
fbguard.exe to be copied into the installation. I suspect the latter,
because I think there is some linkage between fbguard.exe and the Firebird
Control Panel applet (this applet is not applicable to Classic).

Start the fb_inet_server service directly for Classic; or, if you want the
Guardian, uninstall Classic from the Add/Remove Programs applet in the
control panel and install Superserver instead, with the Guardian option
flagged on.
