Do you have IB_Query.FetchWholeRows set to true ?
Do your data contain blobs ?
Did you run tests several times to ensure the speed difference
is not caused by cache ?

Subject: [firebird-support] Performance differenz by 20 times between gpre and IBOconsole
We encounter that the same select statement fired within our embedded SQL Application lasts 20 time
compared to the statement entered into IBOconsole (which uses dynamic SQL I assume).
When an explicit PLAN is given - the one which IBOconsole showed me - the performance gets still
more badly.
Is there a known issue about this effect? I thought both application using the same firebird server
should show up the same performance on identical select statements.
Any hits?
Better to post this message to firebird-devel?
Environment: Firebird 1.5.0.4201 on Windows NT 2000
I can pack a small example which will show up this behavior. Only problem may be the data set which
is 17 MBytes.
As there is no performance monitor within firebird server I used Filemon from sysinternals to count
the number of disk-I/Os. And this led to the number 20 time.
Best Regards
Günther Klement
