There is also an article on ibphoenix (www.ibphoenix.com) on using zebedee
to compress/decompress the firebird network communications. The article
mentions using it with dial-up also.

It could be well worth looking at it, although I have never tried it myself.
It requires little to no application changes, the only changes if any maybe
a slight change to the connection string / properties to the database.
