Hello Regina,
From notes I made during the install process, I see that I also added
the following lines to file /etc/profile:
FIREBIRD_HOME=/usr/local/firebird
export PATH=$PATH:$FIREBIRD_HOME/bin
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$FIREBIRD_HOME/lib
I'm working on a document describing the install process from sources on
Debian.
