Subject Re: Sever at 100% CPU when using events
Author Anand
I have experienced a similar problem in my application a couple
of days
back. We have set up a test environment with an NT4.0 server,
running FB1.5
and our app. Through another PC, we are sending emails to this
app. The
emails are being sent 24/7, one after the other. After about
two days of
this, the application stopped responding to client requests.
When I checked
the machine, fbserver.exe was hogging close to 97% of the CPU
time. Even
restarting the machine, our app or stopping and restarting the
Firebird
Server service didn't help. I finally disabled the 24/7
emailing, renamed
the existing database and created a fresh database for our app
to bring the
responsiveness back to normal. I am only using tables, views,
stored
procedures and generators in the database, no events. The app
will only
insert/update records on receiving emails. Deletions will
rarely take
place.

We have had a similar problem in the past with FB1.0 too.
