File system permissions shouldn't be the problem then, because
ALL has executable rights.

What Firebird version, and linux distribution are you using?

If it is Firebird 1.5, how about firebird.conf? Were there
any changes for the UDFAccess parameter? How is UdfAccess
set (if at all)?
