From what I've been taught, doing a test restore is always part of a
backup procedure. Not just with Interbase or FireBird, but with ANY
sort of backup plan.
I've been called in far too many times into situations where users and
supervisors thought that an effective backup plan was in place, only to
have to tell them their backup plan was ineffective, so recovery will be
very difficult.
I only test my Interbase backups on a weekly basis (unless I change some
parameter in the backup process), but they do get tested.
