Ok so now I'm even more confused than when I posted the original
question. I've taken a look at both of the replys I got and compared
them to the original select statement and there wasn't any real major
differences. So I copied the original statement from my post and now
the damn thing works as expected.

I think I'm going to chalk that one upto me being too tired.
