That will be a good start but while you wait for it - at that same site -
you can get the Interbase 6.0 document sets which in the main part remain
the same for firebrd. Then the release notes for subsequent releases.
Then get IBExpert free version for an admin tool
download the server 1.5 anad install it on a suitable machine
take a look at the employee database example.

it's trustware licence and then pay for it when you sell your product to
your eager customers. There are other more generic ways of connecting too if
you are determined to make your application able to connect to other
databases but you will forego some of the very good stuff in firebird and
IBO if you do it this way.
