Did you try to restore it to split/multiple files? instead of to one file?
Did you try to datapump it? if you use clevercomponents datapump it will
create a target to mirror the source and pump the data to a newly created
shell structure. As I recommended before, I would do that before I fool
around too much more in anycase.
