Switching platforms would most certainly be a faster solution. However, I
dont have the time to relearn a whole new language. This is a complex
front-end doing quite a bit already. Figuring out treeviews, custom
controls, libraries, API functions, etc. in something new would take too
long right now. I need something viable in VB now or its hara-kari with a
spoon.

I found some of the limitations when I was working with VB/IB. Liked
using IB so much that I switched to Delphi going on 2.5 years ago. Lots
of components for Delphi :)
