IB Express, in my testing, appeared to have a memory leak. Memory leaks will cause performance problems in the long run.
SQLXpress simply stopped working in the Borland DLL after 2080 select operations.
Helen suggested looking at alternative components for linking to Firebird. I am considering just using the GDS32 interface directly, except for certain time conversion routines that truncate the fractional seconds.

Subject: [firebird-support] Firebird with IBX, performance
Does anybody have experience Delphi's application
with IBX Component and Firebird 1.x ?
Is there any conflics or any trouble ?
Currently I use Ibx with FB 1.03, and got performance
problem (Database online 24hx7d) and at less FB
hang once a day. I guess i have a problem with
Garbage collection.
Does FB 1.5 have a better Garbage Collection
like IB 7.1 or any solution ?
TIA
Jayanto
