Hi Paul
Yes you can use aliases for backup either locally or to a remote
machine.
Have a look at the gbak instructions, there's some in the interbase
operations guide found on the firebird site, or alternatively look in
Helens book.
There are also some backup tools built into various firebird support
applications, again have a browse around the site.
