Sorry, I didn't read the whole thread, but at least on windows 2000 and xp
you CAN rename loaded dlls.
You can also move them. You only cannot change, delete or move them to
another drive.

(That's the way, you can replace system dll files. Rename them, deploy a new
copy, reboot.)
