We switched from IB 6.02 to FB 1.5 this year without any problems using
DbExpress.
Just copy the mentioned gds32.dll (=fbclient.dll) into the same path as
your application. Client installation is as simple as creating a
shortcut and opening port 3050. (gds_db 3050/tcp). We configured 100 of
client machines this way..
