I would add to Bob response that if you are running Windows but not
running XP or Win2003 Server, then you should disable Hyperthreading.

HyperThreading makes the server look like it has 4 CPUs but they do not
act like a full CPUs, only XP/Windows 2003 know how to handle
HyperThreading correctly.
