and load your DB files there. The MS Win 2003 install did not set the time
zone. OK set the time zone manually. What has happened to my FB timestamp?
You do not expect firebird to keep working, if you move the database file to
another directory, do you?
You do not expect firebird to keep working, if you change the ip of the
system, do you?
You do not expect firebird to keep working, if you change the port number in
services, do you?
Why do you expect firebird to keep working, if you change a system setting
such as timezone?
Basic rule: Whenever you change a system setting, that might interfer with
some services, restart them!
That would differ, if there was a case, where the timezone changed
automagically. But there isn't. That is the whole intention of my original
posting.
I think it is absolutely legal for firebird to read timezone once and work
with that as long as the service is running, and I think such caching is
important to keep services fast.
