Can you say which version: Classic or Superserver?
And, is it Windows or Linux? I know the last time you referenced to

IIRC, something related to that was mentioned post FB 1.5.1. But, I'm
not 100% sure. And, it has to do with the transaction internal save
points.

You could also try the debug build to see if you can get a dump of the
error and send that to the developers.
