It should be OK to use the FB 1.5 gbak for your "migration". Just do a
test gbak and restore to some other location, so that you have a fallback.

Speed. The ODS change was made because of indexing added to the system
tables - previously there were no indexes and this made some operations slow.

I have a mixture here of ODS 10.0 and 10.1, across a network. I don't
notice any difference. I'm backing up and restoring them with Fb 1.5 gbak,
no pain.
