IBexpress isn't database-independent - it only works with InterBase. If
you mean "DBExpress" then there is a commercial DBX driver for
Firebird. www.upscene.com

And "Amen in Spades" to avoiding the BDE. It doesn't support client/server
databases any more. Borland deprecated it at Delphi 6.
