Greetings Geoff,
If you don't mind spending a little money, the check out SMImport Suite.
They have an TSMImportFromText component I use and will allow you to import
from any type of text file, fixed of delimited. The suite also allows you
to import form any other format as well and if you want to use, it comes
with a wizard component too.
Check it out at http://www.scalabium.com/ only $50.00 with source.
Well worth the money to save you time.
