Yes, Martijn makes a good point.

When you tell people you are using Firbird(SQL) version 1, it does
sometimes scare them... First of all, Firebird?? Second of all, version
1???

People are always reassured (a bit) when I tell them that Firebird 1
started from the source of Borland Interbase version 6. Most people tend
to recognise Interbase, well, no, not quite true, but they usually do at
least recognise the Borland brand name. Who cares about a brand name?
The people who often make the final decisions, that's who!

So, as Martin suggests, I would tell them a bit about the History and
say that really it is a version 6 (or is it 7?) project... Well, it has
been around a long time anyway!

Colin

Mind you - Firebird is based upon the InterBase source code. A database
engine with a 20 year history - see www.cvalde.com for more on it's
history.

Well, for one - about 60% ( I believe ) of Russian money transfers (or
whatever, can someone enlighten me here, what did Nickolay create an
application for?) is done through Firebird (very large
application!).

Also, the complete Norway Cancer Registry is stored into a Firebird
database. That is, a registration for each occurence of cancer in
Norway.

So besides any Firebird applications, you should probably also
mention that Firebird is much older than version 1.
