>HiSQL for Smarties, also by Celco, is useful for solving some of the curly stuff. Also his "SQL Puzzles" titles. In this vein, see also SQL Queries for Mere Mortals by Michael J. Hernandez and John Viescas. Its has a "solutions for puzzles" style of approach, too - looking at the specs for an output set and working out the most efficient way to get it.
