It still can be used, but preferable to upgrade to the FB 1.0x client.
It is always recommended to upgrade the client along with the server.

It would be better to upgrade. There's a new client dll with FB 1.5,
but still has a gds32.dll that is simply a stub that redirects the
calls to fbclient.dll, so no modifications to the application is
required.

If you are going to upgrade from IB 6.0.1 to FB, I would suggest that
you wait a little more for FB 1.5. The jump in performance in FB 1.5
might put a big smile on your face and your customers.

But, either way, if you are using dialect 3 for your databases, you'll
have to test them with FB 1.0 and FB 1.5 to make sure they work,
especially if you have ambiguous fields in your queries.
