Subject RE: [ib-support] External file size limit

I believe so, from IB6.0 forward (AFAIK) the 2gig limit should be gone for
both external tables, temporary files (no more requirement for several
TMP_DIRECTORY entries) and database files.

The OS and/or filesystem is the limiting factor (well, I think the max is
several terrabytes).

Windows file size will be dependant on filesystem format. There are many
other factors to consider when chosing OS, personally I think Linux or
Solaris is a better database server platform than windows.
