Subject RE: [ib-support] Firebird installation

I've found the approach below to work fine for windows.

WinXP, Win200
Copy GDS32.dll, fbclient.dll to Windows System Folder

Win98
Copy fbclient.dll to Windows System folder and rename it to gds32.dll.
Then Copy fbclient.dll to Windows System folder. You then end up with
two identical files in the system folder called gds32.dll and
fbclient.dll.

If you are using ODBC or OLEDB to connect to FB then the appropriate
Drivers / Providers also need to be installed and registered.

Subject: [ib-support] Firebird installation

This has probably been asked dozens of times already but i am unable to
find information relating to what i want to know. I am going to move to
Firebird 1.02 as my database backend for an existing client.

what i want to know is what do i have to do for each client machine to
link
up to the server and use the database file.

do i have to install the 1.02 server installation on each system ?
do i only have to provide a specific setup like what interbase has for
client machines?

regards
Martin.
