actually it is a client already, as much as it is a server: it is a client to
itself (in that it publishes the client API).
What I'd like to see is the remote interface integrated into it too,
making it able to be a client to other servers too.

Actually, before today, I thought it was exactly like I am describing;
:-) I must have misread the posts in firebird-devel at the time.
