1) You cannot use any old gds32.dll client - you must install the two new
client libraries, that you will find in the Windows kits (fbclient.dll and
gds32.dll).

2) Are you perhaps using a Windows-style path string? it should be like this:

MyServer:/opt/databases/MyDb.fdb

3) Your Windows 98 clients need an entry in HOSTS for the server
