Hi,
I'm still awaiting the release branch to be made before I intergrate the
java side of things. The native side is in CVS.
The native code is currently windows only although it shouldent be difficult
to make it build for other platforms. Currently though I've got a bit
carried away with improving the effiency of the java-native mapping by using
jdk1.4's cool direct ByteBuffer class, and so havent looked into that at
all.
I have made binaries available from
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Firebird-Java/files/ (class2drv_bin_0_3.zip).
Shortly after the embeded firebird is made available I will post binaries
for window's that will load it instead of fbclient.dll as a temporary
messure until the java side of things gets intergrated with the CVS tree.
Thanks
Ryan

If you hope over to the firebird-java@yahoogroups.com, you might find an
answer that you will like. Ryan Baldwin has commited some code to enable
the
Jaybird driver to be used as a Type 2 driver, although I belive the 'native'
part that is used via JNI is currently Windows only, but could be wrong
