Yup, so they *are* initialized, I mean, they are in a known state at
procedure start, don't they?

I keep the habit of doing

myVar = NULL;
SELECT ... FROM ... INTO :myVar;
IF (myVar IS NULL) THEN ...

because I had the same doubt stated by Nando ...
