I'm sorry you first asked if it compiles, and it does when it commits but
the changes to metadata are not visible to until all connections have been
dropped. It's a protection mechanism. You can't have users happily going
about their business against your metadata then suddenly in the middle of
what might be a lengthy transaction - you jump in and change the metadata
from under them... the data they are transacting with or inputting may be
invalid half way thru their work. You wouldn't like that would you?
