To elaborate. It only applies to windows, and was created to
get round problems with high reliability - when windows
failed miserably. As stated, when Firebird crashes on
Windows ( which still does happen from time to time - when
windows hickups ;) ) Guardian restarts it automatically and
everything picks up again ( if programmed correctly ).

If you manage to crash Firebird, without Guardian running,
you just start it yourself :)
