The real question is *how* the generator(s) could have gotten set wrongly ??
We never see it.
No client application ever sets a generator.

I guess I misunderstood you. Somehow I missed that you're just doing
this at application startup.
One more thing, why max+1 ?
Setting it to max is enough.
