I would like to point out that using a local Firebird Server vs using
Firebird embedded makes a lot of difference. With Firebird embedded
you are actually housing the server in your executable which thus
acquires direct access to the data. This means that the C/S protocol
no longer shields you from screwing up badly the database if, f. ex.
your application crashes. At least that's what I imagine, not that my
applications crash too often, but still more often than Firebird! I am
using Firebird embedded only for data I can afford to lose if my
application crashes, just to be on the safe side, and I use a local
Firebird server for one user setups.
