Sorry just want to add an opinion as IBO we are IBO users of over 2 years,
we have not considered converting, because
1) ibo works
2) IBX was said not to be thread-safe, there are no real proof, but
threaded tests were unstable using IBX, but IBO were fine, and this is
important to us because we use Asta.
3) A lot of work to convert.
But IBO on the downside is very slow on prepares (much slower than IBX) but
after it is prepared ibo executes faster,
Also ibo is quite resource intensive and uses quite a lot of memory.
The ibo library is however extensive and provides unlimited amount of tools
for ib/fb
The question that you have to ask yourself is do you really need all those
functionality, are you writing a full db admin tool like QuickDesk/IBExpert,
or IBConsole, etc, or are you just writing queries/inserts, for those things
you only use 10% of what ibo offers and actually a more light weight option
is better for you, I know that we are those people who only use the 10% for
the rest we use tools already written QuickDesk/IBConsole, that is why Zoes
looks like an attractive option and the fact that it is “light weight” in
this case might be optimal.
I am saying this because I am interested to hear from zoes users how this
compares
Thank you.

Hello,
i've moved from IBX to ZEOS some times ago. It seems that ZEOS is
stable now, but there are no admin components. If you need this you
must use another pack.
ZEOS can connect to other database (aka mysql, mssql, oracle, db2,
postgres, sybase). I need interbase and sybase connectivity, so ZEOS
is right for me.
I haven't make any performance tests yet, but it seems that ZEOS is
not slower than IBX (perhaps faster?).
Greets,
Marcel
