Could the "3-4 hours" mean that nobody calls a UDF until then?

Have you studied the release notes to see the security changes affecting
UDF access and set things up accordingly on the server? There's some
documentation inside firebird.conf itself and more detail in the release
notes. Access latest (still non-final) release notes from news items on
home page at www.ibphoenix.com
