Multi-part answer:

1) For 'real' SMP support -- not sure, certainly after v1.5

2) v1.5 will, though, allow for you to run the Classic engine on
all platforms. The Classic engine is much more SMP (multi-processor)
friendly

3) Join the Firebird Foundation, your membership fees will go
towards making SMP a reality faster -- more membership fees, more money
to pay developers to work on the things that matter.
