We looked into trying to 'reserve' a port for one of our systems, and whilst
'free' the amount of documentation that needed to be produced was huge.
Also, even after you reserve a port, there is nothing stopping another app
from using it, so in the end we decided not to bother, and made the port
configurable 'just in case'
