Linux in place of W2kServer would make a difference, but the
other question is - what else is running on the server?

If you have a lot of 'other' server work, then I would
suggest a separate fast single processor machine with a 4
disk raid running Linux and Firebird only. Not expensive,
but a good performance boost.
