Subject Re: Firebird in Windows XP

We're seeing the same problem. We can connect instantly, but the
disconnect takes between 8 and 10 seconds.

I believe there's a confusion between the connect and the disconnect
problems - I suspect they may be unrelated. The connect issue may be
caused by system restore on XP, but I don't think the disconnect
delay has anything to do with that.

Why? Because switching off system restore, changing the file
extension to FDB (including hacking IBServer.exe to use ISC4.FDB),
makes NO DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER.

This surely has to be a major issue for Firebird. I'd like to know
what is going on during these 8-10 seconds. There's no CPU activity
and SysInternals shows no file access by ibserver.exe.

Here's hoping one of the Firebird developers can reproduce this and
at least determine what the problem is.

Cheers,

Mike Scott.
