AFAIK no. All the documents that I know about is for a Firebird install, not
for a 'Fb installation for a desktop use'. But lots of us use it for desktop
applications.

There are some approachs for a embebbed instalation on Fb 1.5 - I remember
that Dmitry is using one.

Just keep in mind that the server it's not yours, just at your service.
Check for Fb installation and Interbase installation at install time (This
will change for Fb 1.5, since IB and Fb will be allowed to coexist on the
same machine). You can have Ib install details in
http://ibinstall.defined.net/. Firebird 1 use the same register keys.
Firebird 1.5 will change that.
