Dear Christine
lat time I did install MAC OS X - it was very easy to do.
The package was running after a click.
the interbase stuff goes into ../Library/Frameworks/firebird.framework...
you may have to edit the inetd.conf with the line ; former MAC OS X did not
by install scrpt: gds_db 3050/tcp : here in HPUX on line ...
#
# Borland International InterBase Database Server
#
gds_db stream tcp nowait root /usr/interbase/bin/gds_inet_server
gds_
inet_server
