Did you see gds_db instead of 3050? Netstat -a will display the service
name instead of the port. You can try Netstat -n to see the port number.

I did not gds_db. I'm running win95 which I forgot to mention if that makes
a difference.

What wouldn't load, IB_Sql or the connect to the db?

IB_Sql would not load.
