A bit like Internet Explorer - give it away to gain brownie
points <g>

Seriously I think Borland realized their mistake when the
original backlash hit. Giving the code away then was a way
of softening the blow, but I think it was too late as
confidence had been lost. Pulling it back in house was the
proof that the original decision had been a mistake.

Firebird is alive and kicking - but it would still be nice
to know how many Interbase systems are now running Firebird
instead, or intend to change.

I have several systems live in the field.
