Subject RE: [ib-support] Getting the server to share resources better

when I get queries which seem to do this I do some serious work on my client
app and it's queries or the database structure. None of my client app
queries are "long", it's really not very friendly to have this situation as
you rightly comment.
Is there a real need to have such heavy queries. Do you have indexes set
correctly etc?

Subject: [ib-support] Getting the server to share resources better

Hi all,

Is there a way to make IB/Firebird better at sharing CPU resource
between queries?

We can have client apps here issuing long queries that just slow the
rest of the IB/Firebird client right down to basically non
functioning... Just logging on can take ages.

We have one particular app that basically needs to have relatively
speedy access to the server as it controls some hardware. Is there a way
that we can help guarantee that app a bit better chunk of CPU time or
even better, stop other queries taking up 99.99 % of the CPU time and
starving the rest???

Any info appreciated.
Regards
Colin
